Summary
Manufacton leverages csv formatted files almost exclusively for importing and exporting from the system. There are many locations within the system that allow lists of orders or items to be imported.
In this article, the locations and examples of those templates are provided for:
Throughout the interface, the "Import Excel" tool will appear similar to this with the mouse-over tooltip Import Excel :
The templates all have the same basic format. The column header (row 1) of the csv is reserved for the property name while rows 2 and beyond are for the property values as shown in the example below:
If the property name in the header exactly matches the property name in Manufacton, that column will be automatically mapped to the Manufacton property during the import process, otherwise, manual mapping of the column headers needs to be completed prior to the import as shown in the example below.
Excel files that contain more than one tab with data that requires import can be used! Be aware that Manufacton "looks at" the first tab in the file during an import. If other tabs contain data that needs to be imported:
- Those tabs can be dragged to the 1st position within excel
- The file can be saved
- And the import of the data on that tab can be imported into Manufacton
Import Templates
App & Project Setup
Projects
The import for projects, in App & Project Setups > Projects, was designed to assist with the creation of projects which may be set-up in another system (i.e. an Accounting System) and helps to ensure consistency across systems. For projects, the following fields can be imported.
The import file for projects should resemble the following:
The "Members" column should be a semi-colon delimited list of email addresses for members who are already in the system. (see how to enter Members below).

Members
The Members import, in App & Project Setups > Members, allows for the following columns to be imported in batch:

Assemblies / Parts
Assemblies
Assemblies can be imported with the following columns and can reference both parts and other assemblies that compose those assemblies as part of the import:
NOTE: Initial import of the Assembly Catalog establishes
new Assemblies into the catalog. Subsequent imports will UPDATE
those assemblies if the same Catalog ID is imported again.
Also note that once the parts are established into the catalog,
that assemblies can reference those parts during the assembly
import.

Parts
Parts can be imported with the following columns.
Sample Template - Parts Import.xlsx
NOTES:
o Initial import of the Parts Catalog establishes new parts to the catalog. Subsequent imports will UPDATE parts if the same Catalog ID is imported again. o The Vendor information (columns H-L) can only be imported
if the Vendor specified in column H is already loaded into
your system – See the KB Article on Vendors for more information
on this topic.
o If multiple Vendors are to be imported with a part, simply
add additional rows with the vendor information after the part
definition row (as demonstrated in line 3 in the above image).
o Vendors for various parts are managed by the Vendor function and
leverage the Material Catagories (and Sub-Category) attributes
for each part.
Material Categories
Material Categories can be imported with the following columns:
Sample Template - Material Categories Import.xlsx
Note: To import multiple sub-categories, the sub-categories must be on the same
row as the category and each sub-category must be comma delimited.
Tags
Tags can be imported with the following column:

Vendors
Vendors can be imported with the following columns:

Nested Company Locations
Unlike most other templates, the Nested Company Location Import template does not have any headers. This is because the depth of the nesting is arbitrary, and the way the nesting is imported is by including an additional column for each layer of the nest.

Note: For more information, see the KB Aricle on Nested Company Locations.
Prefab Planning
Kits
Kit cards can be imported instead of prefab planning cards within Prefab Planner by selecting the Import Kit option:
Kit cards can be imported with the following columns:
Notes: Initial import of Kits establishes those cards. Subsequent imports will UPDATE the dates of the Kit and Assembly cards which have the same KIT ID associated to them.
Select this link to learn more about the Kitting function in Manufacton
in the Kits Knowledge Base Article

Kit Assemblies
After kits are imported, it is possible to import all of the associated assemblies for all of those kits with a 2nd import.
Assemblies can be imported with the following columns:
Notes:
o The KIT ID, as defined in column A, must exactly match the Kit ID as it is
entered in the Kit Card for the mapping of the assemblies into those
Kits to be successful during import.
o Multiple assemblies for a single kit can be added by repeating the KIT ID
(in column A) for each assembly to be added to the same kit.
o Re-import of the spreadsheet will also update Level, Zone, Docs, and Notes
fields as long as the assembly is still in Planning.
o If an Assembly has moved out of Planning, an Assembly quantity update is
NOT be possible through a reimport of the spreadsheet.

Prefab Planning Cards
Prefab Planning cards can be imported with the following columns:
Sample Template - Prefab Package Import.xlsx
NOTES:
o The "Document names" column can include multiple, comma separated names which correspond to url links in the "Documents" column; which are also comma delimited.
o The "https://" at the begining of the URL can be omitted, especially for
multiple, comma dlimited, URLs.
During the import of prefabs:
- Default items (of the same name as the package) can be created.
- In addition, those items can be moved on to Production Orders (in the Coordination stage)
- or all the way to the Detailing stage:
Prefab Planning items
Within the prefab planning cards, additional items can be imported with the following columns:
Sample Template - Prefab Item Import.xlsx
NOTES:
o The "Document names" column can include multiple, comma separated names
which correspond to url links in the "Documents" column; which are also
comma delimited.
o The "https://" at the begining of the URL can be omitted, especially for
multiple, comma dlimited, URLs.
Schedule
The Activity Schedule tool is populated through an import of Activities. The import requires three columns and is imported on a per-project basis:
Sample Template - Activity Schedule Import
Note: The "Schedule" function is currently in limited Release, please contact
Manufacton Support for mor information on this feature
Material Orders
Material Order cards
Material Order cards can be imported with the following columns:
Sample Template - Material_Order_Import.xlsx

which correspond to url links in the "Documents" column; which are also
comma delimited.
o The "https://" at the begining of the URL can be omitted, especially for
multiple, comma dlimited, URLs.
During the import of Material Orders Default items (of the same name as the Order) can be created.
Material Items
Material Items can be imported with the following columns:

NOTES:
o The "Document names" column can include multiple, comma separated names
which correspond to url links in the "Documents" column; which are also
comma delimited.
o The "https://" at the begining of the URL can be omitted, especially for
multiple, comma dlimited, URLs.

See the KB Article on Adding Orders directly into Production Manager for how to batch import Production Orders.

Production Items
Import into Individual Production Orders
Production Order items can be imported within a single Production Order with the following columns:
Sample Template - Production Order Items Import.xlsx
NOTES:
o The "Document names" column can include multiple, comma separated names
which correspond to url links in the "Documents" column; which are also
comma delimited.
o The "https://" at the begining of the URL can be omitted, especially for
multiple, comma dlimited, URLs.
Import into Multiple Production Orders
Production Items can also be imported into multiple production orders using these columns.
See the KB Article on Adding Orders directly into Production Manager for how to batch import Items into Production Orders.

Production Worksteps
Production Order Worksteps can be imported with the following columns:
Sample Template -Workstep Import.xlsx

Inventory
Inventory can be imported with the following columns:
Sample Template - Inventory Import.xlsx
Notes:
o The same template can be used for importing into Nested Inventory
Locations. Since Nested Inventory Locations are project independent the
import tool will not ask for which project the inventory is intended.
o The item's Name and ID are not required by the import, only the
Catalog ID. The Parts Catalog will be referenced to fill-in the item's
Name and ID during import.
o To import inventory deeper into a nest, the slash "/" symbol should be
placed between each sub location. I.E. "Top-Level/2nd_Level/3rd_Level"
Tasks
