Summary
Manufacton is a cloud and mobile based application, and as such has some high level recommendations with regards to the devices and utilities used to access it.
- Mobile App
- Devices
- Apple users – iTunes
- Android Users – Google Play
- For mobile app access on a handheld, you can go as small as a handheld smartphone and as large as the largest tablet
- Storage
- For the most part, the manufacton app will not require too much storage as data is transferred to/from the device transactionally
- A couple of things to consider:
- Downloads:
- Consider the number and file sizes of documents to be attached to your most heavily ladened orders (fab shop drawings, installation drawings, material specs, etc.) and make sure the device has enough space (and the right tools) to open those files in the field
- Uploads:
- Most uploads are handled transactionally, so anything the device can author (including images) it should be able to upload
- There is an "offline" feature in the mobile app which allows the app to store images captured when there i no internet access, but again as long as the device has enough memory to author and store those images, things should be fine
- Web App
- Handheld
- For handheld devices accessing the web app (app.manufacton.com) we recommend a minimum of 10.5" display and minimum of 2048x1536 resolution (264ppi)
- We recommend Chrome, Firefox and Safari - Here's a knowledgebase article on this topic - Does the Internet Browser Matter?
- Handheld devices should include a camera to enable QR based workflow
- Laptop/Desktop Requirements:
- Browser - Use a supported browser
- Camera - Has built-in or external camera
- Internet - Has high speed internet access to:
- Manufacton App - app.manufacton.com
- For documents linked to manufacton orders - <Your cloud doc storage site>
- Documents uploaded into the app - amazonaws.com
- For Training and Support - zoom.us
- You also will want to consider the following with regards to shop and field desktop devices:
- Size - Readability requirements of the documents loaded into Manufacton
- Location - Accessibility of Manufacton folk folks in the shop and field
