Configuring the BIM Large Model Viewer

Overview

Revit and Autocad users make model object associations with Manufacton production and material items and can see real-time status of those items in ManufactOn, as well as directly through the BIM software. However, there are many key stakeholders in a project who may not have the necessary BIM software installed on their computer to take advantage of this intuitive and powerful view. 

For those cases, users can access the BIM model through an online BIM viewer. Follow these steps when setting up the BIM viewer for the first time.

Requirements

Each user who would like to view the Manufacton status within the Large Model Viewer will also need access to Autodesk's BIM 360 Docs and each project within BIM 360 Docs to which the Manufacton project is connected.

 

Configuring

To provide your Manufacton account access to the model in BIM 360 Docs perform the following:

1. Click on your photo or initials at the top left corner of the screen to edit your account
2. Select "Third Party Plugins"
   
   
3. Edit the section entitled, "BIM 360 Viewer" by clicking the pencil button
   
4. Click "Enable" to be redirected to the Autodesk website. Sign in using your Autodesk account to allow ManufactOn to access BIM360 Docs
   
   

Once a user's ManufactOn account is configured, users can use this guide on Setting Up a Project with a BIM Viewer Model to set up a BIM model specific to a project.

 

Troubleshooting

If, when attempting to access the model or sheet hosted in Bim 360 Docs, the screen remains blank, there are a couple of things to check:

1. Bim 360 may have timed-out the user's access. 
   • It may be necessary to re-authorize the user's access to Bim 360 from Manufacton.  See the Configuring section above for authorizing access.
2. Make sure the user has been invited to the project and has access to the model and sheets within BIM 360 Docs
3. Make sure the user has accepted their invitation to the project.  Until they accept the invite, BIM 360 does not consider them an active member and Manufacton cannot access the model or sheets.
   • When a user is invited to a project, they will receive an invite similar to below and must select "Go to your project" to activate their member before they will be able to access any of the referenced items through Manufacton.
