Overview
Attaching shop drawings, shipping manifests, RFI responses, and other product documentation within Manufacton is simple
Attaching Documents
Documents can be added to:
- An overall Order by selecting the Add (“+”) button in the Documents area of the Order
- A specific Item, a specific Work Step (for Production Orders) or a specific Task
- When adding to an Item, Work Step, or Task, a “Documents” dialog will appear on the right side of the order and selecting the Add (“+”) button in that dialog.
In any case, an Add Document(s) dialog will appear. Documents can be added in several different ways: - By dragging and dropping them from a File Explorer window into the grey box in the Add Document(s) window.
- Selecting the “Browse Files” or Add (“+”) button opens a “File Explorer” window where files can be navigated to and selected.
- Adding a URL and Display Name to a document stored in a cloud server.
- Add Manufacton Form (See the KB Article on Forms and Form Builder for more information on this topic)
- Any attached document can be marked as “Private” by selecting the Mark as Private Document checkbox next to the Add method.
- Private documents will appear with a red icon next to the file name.
- Private documents are used in conjunction with the Linked Projects functionality. For more information on Linked Projects, see the KB Article on Linked Projects.
- Once the documents have been selected, the Add Document(s) button saves those document.
Document Links with Excel Import
Users can use URL links to attach documents as well, simply format a spreadsheet with a "Documents" column and enter the URL link in that column. Multiple links are also permitted. When entering multiple links, simply separate the links with a comma and the upload will permit multiple links per item/order/run/etc.
